This is our main appeal of the year when the Croydon community who aren’t homeless are most likely to see Nightwatch volunteers.
We hope to be in contact with all the schools, churches and other community organisations in Croydon. We receive food from Harvest Festival celebrations to distribute throughout next year.
We need cans of soup (not packets) and we also distribute canned food, vegetables, meat and fish to people who have basic cooking facilities, and give cans of tinned fruit to people who have no facilities at all. Canned milk is also popular.
The Croydon community is so generous at this time that we have to make special arrangements about sorting and storing the gifts. We have designated the first four Sunday evenings in October every year between 7:30pm and 10:30pm as times when we will receive donations, and volunteers will be present to sort out and store them.
Please bring your donations to: The hall of the Croydon Society of Friends (Quakers) 60 Park Lane, CR0 1JE. Near Fairfields Hall roundabout.
We need lots of volunteers to help us receive, sort and store this food.
If you can deliver on our Sunday evenings, it would be very much appreciated. We realise this is difficult for some organisations, however, so we can organise collection. We would need a contact name and telephone number, the collection address and a range of times when collection would be possible. Then send this information to us. Try not to telephone as we would have too many calls to process easily, and the information would have to be put on an email at some time anyway.
